What Clients Say:

Operations Manager
David was employed by my company to assist with the change management of the workforce located in Alice Springs. At the time of David, coming on-board the ATOM workforce was around 350 persons, a diverse workforce made up of many trades to professional engineers, medical, custodial, transport, security, ICT and Integrated Logistics. The workforce was predominately an aging workforce, with most spending many years performing the same functions or roles.  Change was required to address a number of problems with regards to leadership, culture, program performance and team work.  Although it is difficult to impose change - people and teams need to be empowered to find their own solutions and responses, with facilitation and support from managers, and tolerance and compassion from the leaders and executives.

Management and leadership style and behaviour are more important than clever process and policy.  Employees need to be able to trust the organization.  As such, this was the basis of the program we developed with David.  We needed to upskill the workforce and provide a mentorship program to ensure the change we were seeking was supported fostered and encouraged.  The program also identified a number of key critical areas that we wanted to address such as environment, processes, culture, relationships, behaviours, etc.

Training modules were developed around culture, team work, leadership, behaviours, etc and participants included all levels of the workforce.  Although in the first year, we predominately targeted managers and leaders within the work groups that could help act as our change agents going forward.  The program we put in place was a three year program with a goal of around 75% participation of the workforce. Feedback we received from the staff was excellent and I was encouraged by the amount of buy-in we received from the staff.

As an outcome, we quickly realised the benefits. Our staff took on additional responsibilities, teams worked much better together than they ever had.  Program performance significantly increased, retention of staff increased, EHS incidents reduced and most pleasing our revenue on the program increased.  This would never have been achieved without the skills and experience of David.

David provided a level of understanding, commitment and patience, worked extremely closely with the workforce and this enabled the program to mature, amp and change over time to ensure we were able to best achieve the outcomes we were seeking.

Customer Services Manager

I have experienced David’s courses not only as a direct participant, but also as a mentor to my staff that have undertaken David's programs here at Caroma.  As a participant I found myself engaged in every workshop I attended.  Not only was the course material pertinent but I also found David’s delivery exceptional.

David has an excellent ability to ensure his participants are included and challenged.  David lets you know when you are not “aware”, even if you think you are…

So many courses have sound basis and supporting material, yet they still fail to make a “real” difference.  David has a desire in his facilitation to enlighten his students, to share knowledge beyond the fundamentals and to engage not only logically but emotionally.

As a mentor I could see visible changes in my staff members behaviour.  Mostly, their keenness to participate, to become involved in healthy discussion and to share their views in a neutral environment where they feel comfortable and confident.

This transfers back to the workplace.  Not only do they return with sound fundamentals, they return with an awareness and ability to share what they have learnt and most importantly to put these new found techniques to daily practice.

Over the years, David has returned excellent value to our business.

Gabriel Wilk

Group Operations Manager

David worked on several very difficult leadership development challenges in my team, including upskilling and supporting front-line leaders struggling with major customer and remote site issues.

David's direct approach and candid advice works particularly well with the Australian workforce. He was highly effective in coaching both men and women on these sites.

Andrew Pike

Group HR Manager

David has worked as a Learning and Development counsel for a major remote area project with a classified defence industry customer.  He was instrumental in setting up, executing and driving leadership development and intervention programmes across all onsite organisational levels and worked closely with line management and project HR in helping embed behavioural change.  He also provided a first class coaching and mentoring service with both individual and managerial groups and through his perseverance and tenacity was able to make a real change to how people made decisions, communicated with others and performed their roles.

As a facilitator he has been able to energise and motivate a diverse range of groups, is willing to take part in active debate and able to handle all situations.  I have seen him operate in both group and individual settings and is comfortable in both environments.  His facilitation skills are exemplary and his commitment to the task cannot be questioned.

In terms of his learning and development programs, he has made a significant contribution to a multi-million dollar program.  He is robust, able to roll his sleeves up and work with any audience and has proven first class facilitation skills.

In terms of integrating his learning and development activities with the wider corporate HR activities, he has been open minded and adaptable enough to customise his programs.  David has been instrumental in designing workplace behavioural matrices for performance review systems and has set up a proper and cogent performance and development platform.

He has played a large role in improving management professionalism onsite and has also worked with executive leadership teams in such areas as emotional intelligence, decision making competence and communication styles.

Program Manager

David has provided in-depth coaching for staff of two companies of which I was a manager.

Although the missions of the coaching, and the types of recipients, were different for each company, David engaged extremely well and professionally with each group of employees.

Most importantly, he was able to extract the best outcomes for both groups. The coaching provided in both scenarios enabled changes to be made to group behaviour and led to significant positive outcomes for the companies.
